Children ages 4 years and up will get to meet and collaborate with renowned artist, Angel Ortiz, aka LA ROC. With Angel’s guidance, they will design their own original artist name or “tag” and create a graffiti painting with paint pens and watercolors. The children will also work on a large-scale canvas that will be displayed in the Museum.
Angel will do a demonstration at 10:30 with the workshop to follow at 11am.
About the artist:
Back in the late 1970’s and early 80’s, Angel Ortiz, also known as LA ROC or LA II, was a prolific graffiti artist. Keith Haring was drawn to his “LA II” tags, and knocked on doors in the Lower East Side looking for the creator of that distinctive style. They collaborated and exhibited together for five years, creating some of the most iconic works of 1980’s pop culture.
