The Children’s Museum of the East End is proud to have completed its fourth year of “Ciencia en CMEE,” a unique afterschool program for children and parents from Spanish-speaking families to learn science together. With generous support from the Long Island Community Foundation, the Museum expanded “Ciencia en CMEE” to serve even more families and encourage them to become advocates for their children and community. Studying cultural anthropology this semester, the children explored their own family and cultural histories. The semester culminated with a party at the Children’s Museum where families exhibited and described the family trees they had created. Special thanks to Leah Oppenheimer and Barbara Blaisdell who developed the curriculum and led the program.
