I hope you had a very happy Fourth of July! Thank you to everyone who visited CMEE during the holiday. You made it our busiest Independence Day ever!
July promises to be a busy month at CMEE. In addition to offering engaging classes each morning and hosting our Fourth Annual Family Fair – CMEE in the Great Outdoors – on July 21, we are also kicking off our summer concert series on July 10 with Joanie Leeds, who is presented in partnership with the Jewish Center of the Hamptons.
And for parents, we have our annual Ladies Night benefit on July 11 and CMEE’s second annual Book Club for parents starts July 17 with Jill Kargman reading from her book, Sometimes I Feel Like a Nut. Since summer is a great time for kids to spend time reading, too, we are launching a new “Read to Henry” program. Children can sign up to read a book at CMEE to Henry the Bunny by contacting Amy at CMEE.org or by calling 537-8250.
Last month, CMEE was thrilled to celebrate one of CMEE’s founding moms, Lucy Muhlfeld Kazickas at a party dedicating the Museum’s boardwalk as “Lucy’s Way.” Many of CMEE’s other founding moms joined us to honor Lucy, including Beatrice Alda, Marguerite Gualtieri, Janet Jennings Potter, Kari Lyn Jones, and Jorie Latham. CMEE families who want to celebrate their own founding mothers or fathers, children and other loved ones can purchase a 5”x4” bronze name plate that will adorn the railing of “Lucy’s Way.” Funding for “Lucy’s Way” helps sustain the Museum so that it can develop new exhibits and programs and partner with local service organizations like Long Island Head Start and the Retreat to address challenges in the community.
Thank you for your support and interest of CMEE! I look forward to seeing you soon at the Museum.
