Letter from the Director – January 2013

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! After a fantastic December, CMEE was delighted to ring in 2013 earlier this week with over 500 people attending our 5th Annual New Year’s Eve “Ball Drop.” You can check out some of the photos from the “Ball Drop” in this month’s newsletter.

I am very grateful to the Museum staff including Ben, Catherine, Christine, Claudia, Doug, Gabby, Guadalupe, Julia, Katherine, Karin, Kristen, Lara, LeMy, Melissa, and Torrey for making 2012 such a successful year for CMEE. With so many of you visiting CMEE throughout the year, CMEE had over 50,000 visitors for the first time ever. I also appreciate Leah Oppenheimer and Barbara Blaisdell for greatly expanding Cantemos, CMEE’s family literacy program, this year.

I want to express my deep thanks to Barbara Probeyahn, CMEE’s database manager who leaves us after five years, and Amy Slack, CMEE’s program manager who is leaving after more than three years. They’ve both made enormous contributions to the Museum and we will miss them.

We’re excited to welcome Vanessa Geppert later this month as CMEE’s new education coordinator. Vanessa brings a great experience teaching in and out of the classroom. Stay tuned for her first “Get Creative” workshop on Martin Luther King Day.

CMEE is planning a wonderful array of programs and I hope you’ll join us often at the Museum during 2013.

Sincerely,

Stephen Long
