Letter from the Director – June 2012

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying a great start to the summer. As you know, CMEE is a fantastic place to play and it’s also fun for volunteering. In this month’s E-Newsletter, we’re featuring two volunteers who run Lego Club at CMEE every Saturday at 10am. Their names are David and Jessup and they attend Sag Harbor Elementary School. Their involvement with the Museum began when they started attending the Club as visitors and alerted the staff about the Museum’s many rare and hard to find Lego bricks. Since kids are great teachers for other kids, we asked David and Jessup to serve as volunteer facilitators for the Club, sharing their Lego expertise with other children.

You don’t just have to be a Legos expert to volunteer at the Museum, we’re looking for volunteers young and old with a variety of skills and talents. If you have experience in public relations, marketing, education, or family literacy, we can especially use your help. Check out our website for more information on volunteering at CMEE!

Museum members are just as important to our success as our volunteers. CMEE just started a new business membership program and I’m delighted to announce our newest business members this month. THANK YOU to Bridgehampton National Bank for joining CMEE’s Corporate Circle and Hamptons Family Concierge for joining as an East End Business Friend. If your business or organization is interested in learning more about a CMEE membership, please check our website or give us a call at 537-8250.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has visited CMEE this year. You’ve helped increase our attendance by almost 20% over the first half of 2011. With all the great programs that are taking place at CMEE – including music concerts, morning classes, and weekend workshops – I hope to see you often at the Museum this summer!

Sincerely,

Stephen Long
Executive Director
