Filled with fantastical, educational, and interactive exhibits, the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE— we pronounce it “see me”) is a wonderland for children’s imaginations—celebrating the history, beauty and creativity of the East End of Long Island.

From wind science to fire engines and floating beds, farming and fishing, potato birth to potato chip—CMEE provides a challenging and magical adventure for all who visit.

Internship Opportunities at CMEE

CMEE offers internship opportunities and we invite students ages 17 and older to apply for internships in the organization. Internships typically last 13 weeks (1 semester). CMEE offers internship opportunities to career oriented college students as well as prospective teachers in some or all of the following areas:

* Event planning for members, sponsors and the community.

* Programming of classes, children’s workshops and performances for families.

* Museum attendants- greeting visitors, assisting with and guiding visitors through exhibits.

* Educational assistants to work with instructors in hands-on classes and workshops.

* Art Room assistants.

* Gift shop assistants - daily operation of the shop, including sales, ordering, receiving merchandise, window display and inventory assistance.

* Marketing, communications and fundraising.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a museum setting working with children in an educational environment and to:

* Learn about event planning, communications and fundraising.
* Gain experience in graphic design, web design, public relations, marketing and advertising.
* Work with experienced museum professionals.
* Learn more about careers in a museum and non-profit setting.
* Work with professionals and children in an exciting and educational environment.

Internships are open to applicants pursuing degrees in social work, education, hospitality, event planning and related areas. Ideal candidates will have excellent oral/written communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Interns must be able to work independently, understand the importance of meeting deadlines and have excellent research and telephone skills. Applicants should have a desire to work with children and the public.
