A Message From CMEE’s President

Dear Friend,

After more than thirteen years of furthering the mission and vision of the Children’s Museum, I’m stepping down as President effective December 3.

I am enormously grateful for the experience and skills I’ve developed at the Museum. I’ve loved working with our incredibly committed Board of Trustees and a staff that is always willing to extend themselves to meet the needs of children on the East End. I feel so lucky that my two children have been able to grow up participating in the Museum’s programs and playing in the exhibitions. CMEE has been like my third baby and I’m very excited to see it grow and thrive under new leadership.

I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished during the last thirteen years. Since 2008, we doubled the Museum’s attendance, initiated ongoing partnerships with numerous community and social service agencies, and built CMEE into a vital hub for children and families across Eastern Long Island.

To find the Museum’s next President, the Board has established a committee to lead a national search. In the meantime, Liz Bard and Lara Sweeney have been appointed Interim Co-Presidents. Many of you are already familiar with Liz as CMEE’s Education Director and Lara as CMEE’s Director of Development. I know the Museum is in great hands.

In December, I will be moving just down the road to lead the East Hampton Historical Society. I’m very excited to return to my roots in the history field.

Thank you so much for being part of the Children’s Museum with me. Your investment and interest has made CMEE into more than a museum. You’ve helped create a social connection for children and families all across our community.

Sincerely,

Steve
