Two New Exhibits Arrive at CMEE!

On Friday, November 30, the Museum will unveil two new exhibitions, “Ring of Fire” and “Miles of Tiles,” which are designed to stimulate early math fluency and reduce the math achievement gap. On loan from the Museum of Mathematics in New York City as part of their “MoMath 2 Go” initiative, the exhibitions will include specially created “tip cards” with talking points for parents and caregivers to communicate mathematics to their children more effectively.

“Studies show that when children enter kindergarten, their math skills are a better predictor of future academic success than literacy or social-emotional skills” says Steve Long, Executive Director of CMEE, “so we are thrilled to offer families hands-on opportunities to expose their children to math in a fun and playful way at the Children’s Museum.” CMEE’s Education Director, Liz Bard adds, “the exhibits do a wonderful job of demonstrating how we’re constantly engaging with mathematics; it’s not just something we learn in the classroom.”

Included in the price of admission, “Ring of Fire” and “Miles of Tiles” will be on display at CMEE through January 2019.
