‘The Mural of the Story’ Art Contest

The Children’s Museum of the East End wants to honor your most outstanding work. If your art is deserving of being celebrated on the wall at the Museum, this contest is for you!

For this open contest, middle and high school students with a strong passion for art are encouraged to share their best artwork using CMEE’s mission statement as inspiration.
OUR MISSION: To spark imagination and foster learning for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
There are no restrictions on style; we just ask that your submission piece reflects the Museum’s mission and what it means to you. Remember, this piece will be featured on a 250 sq. ft. wall, so the bigger the idea the better!
Winners will be chosen by CMEE’s Committee for the Arts and receive these prizes:
- Their original artwork featured on the 250 sq. ft. wall by the entrance of the Museum
- Their work promoted through CMEE’s website and social media platforms
- Their work featured in CMEE’s monthly newsletter
- A family membership to our Museum
- An invitation to our annual June Fête Fundraiser to meet comic legend/film director Frank Miller
Submission Guidelines
Eligibility: The contest is open to students of public, private, charter or home school programs located on the East End of Long Island. Students must be in middle/high school to be qualified.
How to Submit: To take part in the contest, you must submit the following items:
- If you’re submitting a digital file, images must be JPG, PNG or PDF files. (Please try to keep the file size under 10 MB to ensure proper uploading.)*
- One picture of yourself.
- One paragraph explaining the title of your piece, how it reflects the Museum’s mission and what the museum means to you.
- Group submissions are welcomed!
- To be considered, all participants must fill out this form.
*If you cannot digitally upload your artwork, feel free to drop it off at the Museum or mail it in. The maximum dimensions are 25in x 25in. Must be 2 dimensional.

By entering this art contest, you are granting us a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your artwork on our cmee.org website and in our newsletters, and any future CMEE materials that will be sent to the general public moving forward. Artworks will not be used for any other purpose than that which is stated here. All entries that are dropped off or mailed in will become a part of the Museum’s art collection unless stated otherwise. If you would like to retrieve your artwork, you must pick it up at CMEE during business hours. We will not be responsible for mailing it out.

‘El Mural de la Historia’
Concurso mural del CMEE
Fecha límite para postular: 25 de mayo de 2018
El Children’s Museum of the East te invita a postular al concurso de arte “El Mural de la Historia” que será realizado durante el mes de mayo de 2018.
Invitamos a todas las estudiantes de Middle y High School a que compartan su mejor creación artística utilizando como inspiración la Declaración de Principios del Museo. La obra ganadora será exhibida en la muralla.
“Nuestra Misión: Despertar la imaginación y promover el aprendizaje en l@s niñ@s de todo origen y capacidades, y facilitar a través del juego la creación de vínculos comunitarios en el East End de Long Island.”
Los proyectos pueden variar del realismo al arte abstracto, y las posibilidades son infinitas. No hay restricciones en estilo, sino que simplemente te pedimos que tu obra refleje la Misión del Museo y qué es lo que el Museo significa para ti. Recuerda que tu creación será exhibida en una pared de 250 sq. ft., así que mientras más grande sea, mejor.
Las obras ganadoras serán promovidas a través de las plataformas sociales del CMEE y en la página del museo. Además serán mencionadas en nuestro boletín mensual y recibirán una membrecía familiar al Museo. Por último, l@s ganadores serán invitad@s a nuestra Fiesta de recaudación de Fondos en Junio donde tendrán la oportunidad de conocer al legendario cómico y director de cine Frank Miller. L@s ganadores serán designad@s por el Comité de las Artes del CMEE.
Reglas de Postulación
Este concurso está dirigido a todos los estudiantes de Middle y High School de las escuelas públicas, charter, y también a aquell@s educad@s en casa, siempre y cuando se ubiquen en el East End de Long Island.
Para participar debes considerar lo siguiente, y enviar los documentos listados a continuación:
-Los proyectos grupales serán considerados, pero no requeridos
-Obra de arte: debe ser enviada como documento en uno de los siguientes formatos: .jpg, .png, o .pdf, y no exceder los 10MB.
– Un párrafo explicando cómo tu proyecto refleja la Misión del museo y qué significa el CMEE para ti
– Una foto tuya
– Si no puedes enviar tus materiales por la Web, puedes venirlos a dejar o enviarlos por correo. El paquete (de dos dimensiones) puede medir hasta 25in x 25in.
Fecha límite de postulación: viernes 25 de mayo de 2018, a las 12pm (EST).
