Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! After a fantastic December, CMEE was delighted to ring in 2012 last week with 500 people attending our fourth annual New Year’s Eve “Ball Drop.” With so many of you visiting CMEE during the holiday break and throughout the year, CMEE had its highest attendance ever in 2011.
A special thank you to the Museum staff including Amy, Barbara, Catherine, Chris, Christine, Claudia, Doug, Katherine, Karin, and Melissa for their hard work to make CMEE’s year such a success! They wear a lot of hats in order for CMEE to uphold its mission to enrich the lives of children and families and strengthen the East End community by promoting learning through play.
CMEE staff managed many new programs and exhibit updates in 2011. One of my favorite was the CMEE Writing Center developed with the assistance of Mariah Bruehl from Playful Learning. Since September, kids at CMEE have written poems, stories, as well as letters addressed to family and friends that CMEE staff mail out each day. In response to a letter written to Santa Claus by a boy named Ethan, the Museum received this note. It’s refreshing to learn that Santa personalizes his correspondence and does not send form letters. Hopefully, Ethan received everything he wished for this holiday!
