Letter from the Director – June 2013

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying a great start to the summer. Thanks to the almost 2,000 of you who helped us kickoff of the season by visiting during Memorial Day weekend!

In fact, all of May was a busy time for CMEE. In addition to completing our annual spring cleanup, we welcomed hundreds of students on school field trips from all over Suffolk County.  CMEE has more school visits scheduled in June and thanks to the valuable feedback collected from teachers, we’ll be updating the Museum’s field trip programs in time for next school year.

Last week, we marked the end of the semester of Ciencia en CMEE, a new bilingual afterschool family program. Later this week, we celebrate the end of the school year for Head Start at CMEE with a graduation ceremony for the 4-year-olds in our amphitheater.

We’re looking forward to a sold-out golf outing at the Maidstone Club on June 10 and since it’s never too early to start working on your golf game, CMEE is delighted to host golf lessons for young children taught by Kate Tempesta beginning next month. This summer, we’re also presenting classes in soccer, art, science, music, movement, and gardening! You can check out CMEE’s entire schedule of summer classes on our website.  Coming up in July, CMEE has its annual summer Ladies Night benefit scheduled at Madison & Main in Sag Harbor on July 10 and the 5th Annual Family Fair on July 20.

Finally, thank you to all of the businesses that signed up to participate in CMEE’s new Business Member program, which we launched just last month. You can see their names here.  If your business or organization is interested in learning more about a CMEE membership, please email Lara Sweeney, CMEE’s Development Officer or give her a call at 631-537-8250.

We look forward to welcoming you at CMEE on both rainy and sunny days this summer.
