November 2020 – Letter from the President

Dear friends,

It’s November and I’m excited to celebrate my favorite holiday of the year – Thanksgiving! 2020 has been a very difficult year for all of us and I especially want to give thanks to the Museum’s trustees, donors, members, and friends who have supported CMEE through this extraordinarily challenging time. Not only did you help us survive the pandemic, but you also enabled the Children’s Museum to serve vulnerable families on the East End in ways that our original founding moms never could have imagined

Whether delivering Welcome Baby‘s care packages to new mothers or sharing Supplies for Success‘s school materials with students learning remotely or working with area food banks to ensure families served by the Museum had enough to eat, the connections we’ve made throughout the East End have never been more important. I sincerely felt like whenever a need arose, a member of the CMEE community was immediately there to fill it.

I also want to express my thanks to the Museum staff for all the extra hours and effort they invested in the Museum this year. They’ve been forced to wear more hats than the peddler in Caps for Sale and they’ve done it with aplomb and enthusiasm.

Studies have shown that gratitude not only helps people form, maintain, and strengthen supportive relationships, but it also helps people feel connected to a caring community. That has never been truer than this year.

If you have suggestions for additional ways that CMEE can connect with our community, I’d be grateful if you could share them with us. Please e-mail me with your thoughts.

With gratitude,

Steve
