Letter from the Director – November 2012

Dear Friends,

I hope you made it through “Super Storm” Sandy without too much difficulty. Our hearts go out to those in our community who have suffered losses due to the storm. We are grateful for all of the cleanup crews who are working diligently to get life in the East End back to normal.

Although CMEE doesn’t have telephone, email, or internet access (as of November 1), we are happy to have electricity so we can be open to the public. Please visit this week, even if you just need to use an electrical socket to charge a cellphone or other device.

CMEE has a full calendar of events scheduled for November. Starting next week, Butter Lane Art Academy is offering classes for children and adults at CMEE.

If your children have ever wanted to build and launch their own rockets (using non-toxic fuel), you don’t want to miss CMEE’s special “DIY Rockets” program on Saturday, November 10. We are also open on Veterans Day, Monday, November 12 when we’ll be celebrating with Red, White, and Blue Cake Pops. Veterans and their families are admitted to CMEE for free that day. If you’re on the East End during Thanksgiving weekend, please come see Katharine Holabird read from her book, Angelina Ballerina, while accompanied by a real ballerina performing the role of Angelina. Also that weekend, you can “Spend a Day in 1621” at CMEE.

We look forward to seeing you soon at CMEE.

Best,

Steve
