Letter from the Director – October 2013

Dear Friends,

After a week of cleaning and refreshing the Museum in September, CMEE is set for a new season of programs, workshops, and special events! Every week at the Museum, there’s something new to do! In addition to art classes presented by Butter Lane Art Academy and music classes by Music by the Dunes, CMEE has an array of PLAY programs every Saturday morning at 10:30am. In October, families can make Flubber, create their own homemade, all-natural paints, and bake sweet potato pies. And, don’t miss our annual Halloween Party on October 25.

Saturday, October 12 is “Rocket Day” at CMEE when kids can make and launch their own rockets from 10am to 12 noon while we celebrate the public launch of CMEE’s new Capital Campaign.  The Campaign for the Children’s Museum has already raised half of its goal due to the generosity of the Board of Trustees and a few leading donors. As CMEE brings the Campaign to the entire East End community, our goal is to surpass $2 million in 2014! This will help us complete an innovative re-design of some of our exhibits and public spaces, expand our programming to serve even more families whatever their background or economic means, establish an endowment and ensure our long-term growth.

I’m delighted that on Rocket Day we’ll be joined by so many of our elected officials for the special “Campaign Launch” ceremony that day at 10:45am. It’s going to be a blast so I hope you can join us, too!

Thank you to everyone for your Facebook support! You helped us surpass 1,000 “likes”! We look forward to continue hearing from you online and seeing you soon at CMEE!

Sincerely,

Steve Long
Executive Director
