MEET THE MUSEUM’S NEW MUSEUM EXPERIENCE COORDINATOR, KEVIN ROJAS

Kevin is no stranger to the Children’s Museum. The past two years, he served as one of the lead teachers for our “Kids Club” summer program. When he wasn’t at CMEE, Kevin worked as a teacher and mentor/coach at Long Island Head Start. Since joining the Museum’s team in September 2018, Kevin has been working diligently to create unforgettable experiences for children and families at CMEE.

What’s your role at the Children’s Museum?
My title at the Museum is the Museum Experience Coordinator. In that capacity, I make sure children and their caregivers are engaged with the exhibits, props and interactives on the Museum floor. I want to create an engaging environment where families can learn through play while staying safe and having fun.

How does it feel taking on a new position?
Just like any new job and/or position, it is exciting and at times nerve-wracking. I know I will miss working in the classroom with children but I am happy about this opportunity and new role in the Museum. It’s all about taking it one day at a time.

What’s been your biggest surprise so far?
My biggest surprise so far is how kind and close the staff is here at the Museum. They’ve been very supportive, guiding me through this transition. It feels like I’ve been welcomed into a new family.

What impact do you hope to make on children and families at the Museum?
I hope that I am able to create a fantastic, out-of-this-world experience for children and caregivers. In the years to come, I want them to look at CMEE as the place where they began to imagine who they could become.
